Causation

The Medical Research Council (2001) has concluded that ASD is not caused by abnormal parenting but is a neurodevelopmental disorder that has a biological basis with a genetic component. The exact way that this develops or is caused is unclear but something clearly impedes the parts of the brain concerned with social and communication development. The exact impact of environmental factors is also unclear and the controversy over the role of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) has generated much interest with the science establishment taking great efforts to defend this cocktail of vaccines.
