Decision: It is the choice of a path and a path among ways and means to reach a desired goal (Al-Salami, 1997-236).
There are other definitions, including:
1- It is the choice of a particular alternative from among a group of alternatives.
2- Choosing between several proposed alternatives in order to achieve one or more specific goals.
3- (Sharif and Sultan) (216-1998) (Fareed and the soldier 7:199).
Through our review of the definitions of the decision, we find that they all revolve around four main concepts:
Research concept: where decision-making requires gathering information and searching for possible alternatives to solve the problem and studying the advantages of each alternative.
1- The concept of trade-off: where the decision-maker performs a trade-off and comparison between the proposed alternatives in terms of the advantages, disadvantages and caveats of each alternative, if any, and sets a specific value for each alternative that enables him in the end to choose.
2- The concept of choice: where the decision-maker chooses one of the alternatives that achieves his goal better than other alternatives.
3- The existence of goals or objectives: There is no decision that does not have a goal or purpose that determines the criterion for the correctness of the decision and the criterion for directions and purposes, as the existence of a problem. It would impede the achievement of the goals and requires a correction and a solution to the problem by taking a well-thought-out decision in a scientific manner consistent with the goals of the organization. A decision that is inconsistent with the goals and objectives is considered a failed decision and means that there is a mistake in the decision-making process that requires a reconsideration of the process from its foundations so that the decisions are consistent with the achievement of the set goals and objectives (Kaldah. 1997, 256). General: It is a conscious and deliberate selection process for an alternative among several available alternatives to achieve a specific goal.
