Imam Al-Hadi (peace be upon him) said:
(Humility is to give people what you would like to be given)
My dear friend: Think about the earth, how much it is a symbol of generosity and humility. We climb on it and tread on it with our feet, and yet it is generous with all kinds of blessings, and bestows upon us the blessings of heaven, not sparing anything of what the sky rains on it of plants, minerals, and water...
Do not be like a sponge that absorbs water and does not become damp unless you squeeze it...
In the bonds of social relations, you must carry within yourself a feeling of humility and translate this feeling through giving, based on fairness and avoiding disapproval. Just as you like to be given, you must give. You do not have the right to be distinguished and unique from the people of your society, so you ignore their feelings and underestimate them in everything.
Giving does not depend only on money and material things, but rather extends to support and consolation in everything. Everything that you see as something that should be given to you by others, you must take the initiative and give back. In doing so, you transcend yourself and destroy the idol of selfishness deep within you.
