Joy is one of the emotional states that accompany a person's behavior. It is not right to object to the winner of a race and say to him: Do not be happy! Or criticism is directed at the person who passed the exams for the joy and happiness he displays... However, this state of joy must not deviate from the rational and legal framework, and be consistent with public taste.
The meaning of a student’s graduation is that he is qualified to practice his specialty and assume scientific and practical responsibility for the primary, secondary, and university education he received. He has become an influential element in his specialized circle. He has rights, duties, and morals through which members of society look at him and begin to evaluate his personality accordingly.
The more he is committed to general etiquette and moral values and what is related to his specialty, the more he reflects a bright image and leaves a positive impact on the souls of the people of his community.
The value of the student of knowledge lies in his moral behavior and not in the amount of information stored by his mind or his skill in his specialty from a practical standpoint. This alone does not represent the completeness and perfection of the personality of the polite student of knowledge.
It is truly unfortunate that what we see in graduation ceremonies reflects the extent of the triviality in the behavior of some of these students, and the absurdity of their minds when they ignore moral frameworks and social etiquette. Some of them even exceed the limits of Sharia law by being vulgar and committing forbidden things, such as singing, mixed dancing, and fancy clothes that arouse ridicule and arouse confusion.
Therefore, this type of expression of joy cannot be considered valid, nor can the one who mocks those parties be blamed. It is very logical for the students of those universities and colleges to be criticized for their behavior that is very far from legitimate, moral, and educational taste, and it is very strange that they justify this to those who criticize them by saying that their behavior indicates On civilization, and that this is part of personal freedom, and other indulgences of the tempted soul and false convictions.
Imam Ali (peace be upon him) said: “The worst of people is he who does not care that people see him as offensive.”
There are beautiful and useful methods that can be used at graduation ceremonies, leaving an attractive imprint on higher education circles, and expressing the awareness and maturity of the graduates and the integrity of their culture. It is useful to include a message for the generations that follow them. To motivate them to complete the stages of learning to reach the stage of graduation, so that they can be role models on this path, whose influences will be sought and whose roles will be emulated.
