Most parents consider the school a place where the child disappears for hours, after which he returns with homework, grades from the teachers, various requests, and grade books from time to time. You may be convinced that success in school is essential to your child's future, but it is likely that you do not really know what happens to him every day there. The son sees that school is the place where he spends most of the hours he has been awake for months. The school is the place where his friends meet, where he learns about the world, and where he discovers the world's opinion of him. And parents are busy people because they have a lot to do while the hours of the day are almost not enough. However, you are an essential part of your children's education and you can make a huge difference in their experience at school.
Get involved
There are many steps that you can take to improve your children's educational experience, and perhaps the most important of them is to be concerned about his life. Most schools yearn for parents who can volunteer to participate in classes. If you work outside the home, you may find it difficult to volunteer due to lack of time, but there is no better way to see what really happens during your son's day. Whether or not your son suffers from academic or behavioral problems, participation in classes, field trips, and other school activities is an effective way to gain insight into your son's life at school and to see what is really going on.
Instead of asking your son ((How was school today?)) ask him debatable questions about his day at school. Ask him ((What was your favorite part of the day?)) or ((Who did you play with during recess today?)) Listen carefully to your son's answers. Pay attention to his emotional life and his feelings towards school.
Make him feel interested
Grades are not the most important part of education. Make sure your son knows that you care about his school work, his success, and his struggle. Avoid criticism and judgment and focus on finding solutions when problems arise. Notice your son's successes and encourage them, no matter how small.
