Microsoft is currently testing a new feature in the artificial intelligence-based “Bing Chat” bot, which is the image recognition feature, in preparation for its launch soon.

Microsoft provides this feature to a limited number of users of the "Bing Chat" chat bot, and some bot users have reported that the new feature has appeared over the past two weeks.

As the name indicates, the new image recognition feature allows users to upload images to a Bing Chat bot, and then ask it questions about them.

According to some of the users who had the opportunity to experiment, the image recognition feature has many benefits, as it can scan an image, detect its content, interpret it, and answer questions asked about it.

Michael Barakhin, Head of Web Services and Advertising Sector at Microsoft, confirmed that the new feature is available to approximately 10% of the users of the “Bing Chat” robot at the present time.

Barakhin added that the feature is currently available only to computer users only, but Microsoft plans to expand support for Bing Chat users on mobile devices as well, and he also stated that the image recognition feature will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.

Barakhin also mentioned in his tweet on Twitter that testing support for scanning long documents will start next week for a limited segment of users.

He added that the beta test of integrating the Bing Chat bot into external browsers has been temporarily suspended. Because the developer team discovered many problems and errors, especially in the Safari browser on Apple devices, indicating that testing will resume again soon.

And Microsoft had announced earlier that the Bing Chat robot would be made available to everyone without the need to use a Microsoft account, as well as support for voice input in many languages, and Microsoft has been working to add new features to the robot periodically since its launch months ago.
