There is no doubt that children, especially young people, resent the method of reprimanding under the name of advice, which makes them feel humiliated and makes them feel insecure and uncomfortable with the father or mother talking to them. As soon as they go through a problem or crisis, they think about what the father or mother will say. In a way that might diminish their personality under the title “Advice and guidance for your benefit,” some of these non-commercial methods of giving advice are:
Firstly, adopting blame and rebuke: one must avoid the method of blaming when offering advice, or mitigate it by softening the conversation and dialogue.
Secondly - The militaristic approach to commands and prohibitions: We should stay away from military dealings with children, such as adopting vocabulary accompanied by harshness in expression (Stand / Sit / do not go out / do not speak).
Third - The use of inappropriate terminology: There is no doubt that the use of terminology that is far from good taste makes advice lose its desired effect, such as: incapable, weak, stupid.
Fourth - Threats and intimidation: The threatening method of advice calls for the stubbornness of the young man, and creates in him a spiritual feeling to resist those threats. Therefore, one must avoid saying some sentences such as: Don’t do that again, or I will punish you next time.
Fifth - Sarcasm and ridicule: We must avoid tearing apart children’s personalities by mocking them, as this will make them more stubborn and aggressive.
Sixth: The style of rhetoric: Guardians, especially fathers, may use the style of rhetoric when they give advice to their children. They speak for twenty minutes before offering their advice, and they may end up saying something that is useless, which turns the young man into a dissatisfied individual who hates values.
